Analysing the film "Crazy Rich Asians"

 

The film starts of with Rachael Chu, who is a native newyorker, she's also a professor at New york university ( professor for economics). Nick Young is her boyfriend which she's been dating for about 2 years and he is ready for Rachael to come and meet his family in Singapore, which there is a slight problem. Nick never mention or told Rachael anything about his family at all, including the fact that he is like the most wealthiest family in Singapore and that Nick's high-society family and friends will give her a cold reception.

Rachael Chu is played by Constance yu

She is the protagonist, she's an Economics professor at NYU, and she is travelling to Singapore with  Nick to meets his family which she will meet Nick's mother. Despite her pretty elite education background, Rachael is very down-to-earth she's also uninterested and not bothered by wealth, the only flaw she has would probably be is, being "too nice".

Henry Golding is played by Nick Young 

Nick is so in love with Rachael that he's ready to bring her home to meet his family, and eventually marry her. His chosen lifestyle is markedly different from the one in which he was raised, as you can see he is a typical rich well mannered,very wealthy man and has a good heart.

The Settings and Backgrounds

The opening urban scene is set in London, and the west village were actually shot in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, and the restaurant where Nick and Rachael had there lunch was shot at the BLVD house. 



Eleanor Young is played by Michelle Yeoh

She is Nick's mother who is strikingly beautiful, young-looking for her age, she also dresses very elegantly in every events she goes. She also very strict and is always concern who nick will marry, she's also a very intimidating woman towards Rachael because she thinks Rachael is a bad influence to her son and to the young's family. 

Astrid Leong is played by Gemma Chan

Not only that she is stunning and a very successful woman, she is more than that, she's passionate and dedicated her family well. Astrid is Nick's most favourite cousin of all times because they grew up together so closely and spent a lot of time more than the other cousins. The two branches of Astrid's family control the entirety of Singaporean commerce. She has tremendous wealth in her name, she's also good at spending the money and one of her greatest skills is finding items of exceptional taste and exclusivity, she drops over a million dollars on jewellery in 20 minutes.
