Background music is important becuase the music is not intended to be a primary focus of potential listeners, but it's content, character and volume level are deliberately chosen to affect behavioral and emotional responses such as concentration, relaxation, distraction and excitement. Listeners are uniquely subject to background music with no control over it's volume and content, the range of responses created are of great variety, depending on numerous factors such as, setting, culture and even time of day.
Since my documentary is going ot be about cultural differences in fashion/clothes. I was thinking for the opening scene, it would be a good choice to use like a relaxing music background (Lofi Hiphop Radio). And then throughout the documentary I think like a bit more up beat background song.
