throughout the week we have been very busy researching and looking at Film Noirs and Neo Noir. We all need to produce an opening scene of the film based on what we've learnt from the noir films, in class we watched two noir films the first one is called "Night and the City" which is a classic Noir film and the second one was called "Blade runner" which is more on the Neo Noir category film. Film Noirs tend to have unusually convoluted story lines, frequently involving flashbacks and other editing techniques that disrupt and sometimes obscure the narrative sequence. Voiceover narration, sometimes used as a structuring device.

Next is to do a summary or analyse the films that we watched in class, and say what is the similarities and differences. we also had to explore the representations of men and women in the Noir films, exploring mise-en-scene and setting as well. I've learnt that the primary moods of the classic film noir were melancholy, alienation, bleakness, moral corruption, evil, guilt, desperation and paranoia. We've also learnt that Heroes ( anti heroes ), corrupt characters and villains include down and out, gangsters, government agents, a lone wolf, killers, petty criminals or murderers. There protagonists were often morally ambiguous low-lifes from the dark and gloomy underworld of violent and crime. Usually these are mens, and they were cynical, tarnished, frightened, struggling to survive and in the end, unfortunately losing.
